Astralis Sign Lucky as a Sixth Player

Astralis have once again extended their roster to six players. The newest member of the team is an 18-years-old Philip "Lucky" Ewald, who has been transferred from Tricked Esports. The organizations have agreed to not comment on the transfer’s value.

Lucky is an AWPer from Denmark, who for the last year and a half has been playing for Tricked Esports – with them he won several online events, including two seasons of Dust2.dk Ligaen and Elisa Nordic Championships 2021 Denmark. The team has been lacking a full-time sniper since this April, when the team parted ways with Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz, who left the team to join Ninjas in Pyjamas. While the team’s manager Kasper Hvidt expects Lucky to be “an active part of the roster from day one”, it looks like player is expected to replace Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander this fall when the latter enters his fatherhood.

Astralis used to have a six-men roster until the departure of dev1ce this April. Initially the team’s sixth player Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen was used only on specific maps, however later the organization abandoned this practice due to VALVE’s updated rules that favour five-men roster and penalize using substitutes.

Recently Astralis extended their contract with the team’s captain Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander for another three years. However, the contracts of other members of the team are set to expire at the end of this year. Following the summer break, the team is expected to participate in ESL Pro League 14 and BLAST Premier: Fall Groups.
